Yingxian Wooden Pagoda (Fugong Temple Sakyamuni Pagoda)

Built in 1056 under the Liao Dynasty, this 67.31-meter pagoda is the world’s oldest & tallest all-timber tower, grouped with the Leaning Tower of Pisa and Eiffel Tower as Three World Famous Towers.

  • Unrivaled timber architecture: Zero iron nails, fully locked by interlocking dougong brackets. Over 50 styles of dougong earn it the title "Museum of Dougong"携程. Designed as 5 visible floors with 4 hidden structural layers (9 levels total) to resist earthquakes and wars for 1,000 years.

  • Ancient calligraphy plaques: Precious imperial inscriptions from Ming emperors decorate the facade.

  • Ground floor interior (only accessible level): A towering 11m Liao-dynasty Sakyamuni statue, original ancient murals and fine painted guardian sculptures携程.

  • Important note: Upper floors are permanently closed for cultural relic protection; visitors can only view the exterior and ground hall.
