Your journey begins as your private guide and driver meet you either at your Luoyang Downtown hotel or the Luoyang Longmen Train Station. From there, you'll head straight to the Longmen Grottoes. En route, your knowledgeable guide will regale you with historical tales about the Luoyang Old Town and the significance of the Grottoes.

Upon arrival at the Longmen Grottoes, you have the option to take a boat cruise (at your own expense) for a breathtaking panoramic view of the grotto complex. The grottoes, featuring over 2,300 caves and niches intricately carved into the steep limestone cliffs that span a 1 - km stretch, are a marvel to behold. Please note that the boat cruise is not available during the winter months. After the cruise, board an electric bus and continue your exploration of the Grottoes on foot. Widely regarded as the largest and most awe - inspiring collection of Chinese art from the late Northern Wei and Tang Dynasties (316 - 907), the Longmen Grottoes offer a chance to admire the exquisitely crafted cave statues and truly appreciate the remarkable sculpture art.

Following your visit to the Longmen Grottoes, you'll be transferred in a private vehicle for approximately 1.5 hours to the Shaolin Temple. Along the way, your tour guide will not only provide in - depth explanations of the temple's history and legends but also share insights into Buddhist philosophy and its profound influence in China. 

Before commencing the temple tour, you'll savor a delicious local lunch and be treated to an exciting Kungfu show performed by the renowned Shaolin monks.

The Shaolin Temple, first constructed in 495 A.D., was commissioned by Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty (386 - 557AD) to accommodate the Indian master Batuo. Revered as the birthplace of Chinese Kungfu, it is also recognized as the origin of ZEN Buddhism and the cradle of martial arts. ZEN Buddhism is the most prent Buddhist sect in China and across East Asia.

At the conclusion of this enriching day tour, your private guide and driver will ensure your safe return to either your downtown hotel or the Longmen Train Station.

Please be aware that the Peony Festival in April brings a large influx of visitors, making the area extremely crowded. This may result in a less enjoyable experience and potentially prevent you from fully completing the entire tour.

Additionally, if you prefer, you can choose to be picked up from Zhengzhou city. However, this option will incur an additional transfer fee.
